925 Million For Oprah's Oxygen |

In a bid to boost its female audience, NBC Universal said Tuesday it will spend about $925 million to acquire Oxygen Media, a cable TV network co-founded by Oprah Winfrey that features a multitude of programming for women. Oxygen was founded in 2000 by current Chairman and CEO Geraldine Laybourne, Winfrey and television producers Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner and Caryn Mandabach. It currently features syndicated sitcoms such as "Mad About You" and "Roseanne," as well as reality shows and movies geared to women.
