Jay-Z is unconvinced in regards to Michael Richards' apologies for spewing racial epithets at two hecklers during a performance. Jay-Z says, "I don't believe you can spew that type of hatred and really have it not be in your fabric.
Also, comic Eddie Murphy is puzzled by the backlash aimed at Michael Richards following his racist tirade. Murphy is refusing to join other African-Americans launching attacks on Richards. He says, "Back in the old days in comedy clubs, you could do anything on stage. I'm not saying what the guy said was cool, but in the old days you would've never saw that on the news."
Actor Terrence Howard is quoted as saying, "Richards was just exercising his First Amendment right. We gain so much from comedians by giving them an uncensored sense of style and liberty." Keep in mind, Howard is the same man who slammed the Hurricane Katrina victims on the Dave Letterman show.(Source) |
