Singer Ashanti went to the New York City Federal Courthouse yesterdayto begin proceedings for her case against T.E.A.M. Entertainment. The hearing is a retrial of a case initially tried in July 2005, in which T.E.A.M. Entertainment sued the recording artist/actress based on a contract that Ashanti signed with the company when she was 17-years-old. Although the first jury found there was a breach of contract, the judge reduced the award of damages based on the evidence being extremely speculative. Article courtesy of Vibe.com |
