New York -- Solange Knowles-Smith and her father are scouting the music industry for singing mothers. Solange is about to head into the studio to work on her second solo album, the follow up to her 2002 album, "Solo Star." She told BET's 106 & Park today that this album would be different because she'll be doing a children's album."
Knowles-Smith said that she was on her way to the ALL-Star Game and was trying to rock her young son Daniel to sleep. She started making up songs and singing them to her young son and Jay Z, said, "You sound good. You ever thought about doing a children's album?" And it was history from there.
She's looking for mothers in the music industry to collaborate with her on the upcoming project. Possible names they are considering: Toni Braxton, Tamia, Debra Cox, Brandy, Monica, Nivea, Lil Mo, Tboz and Chili. Knowles is currently on the circuit promoting her new movie, "Bring It On: All or Nothing," out today. |
